With 1 full-page wood-engraving, 7 plates (showing 14 numbered wood-engravings with captions), 3 woodcuts in-text, 1 tinted lithographic folding map. (8), 202, (4) p.

Condition: Poor. Binding worn, slight restorations made to spine, some quires and pages loosening, paper slightly frayed in margin, browning/ foxing as usual. Otherwise internally mostly in good condition.

* Rare first and only edition of a report about a visit to the Hawaiian islands in 1868 by the German physician Joseph Bechtinger.
