2021 Altas Quintas Tinto - Alentejo DOC, Reserva - 3 Bouteilles (0,75 L)

2021 Altas Quintas Reserva Red 3 x 0.75L 3 Bottles Alentejo Region WINEMAKER: António Ventura. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 18 Points, Vinho Grandes Escolhas WINE VARIETIES: Alicante Bouschet (30%), Syrah (30%) & Touriga Nacional (40%). VINIFICATION The Touriga Nacional, Syrah, and Alicante B. grapes were hand-harvested in 15 kg boxes at the beginning of September. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are placed in a cold chamber at 7°C, where the temperature is lowered to preserve freshness and aromas, and also to facilitate temperature control during vinification. After 24 hours, the grapes are placed on a sorting conveyor belt for bunch and berry selection. Next, destemming and crushing take place, and the grapes are transferred to lagares (traditional stone troughs) to begin pre-fermentation maceration for 48 hours. After this, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 23°C, in order to preserve all the aromatic elegance, with foot treading twice a day and daily delestage (ripening of the grapes). After fermentation, a post-fermentation maceration of 90 days (Cuvaison) follows. The wine is then aged in 500L barrels, both first and second use, for a period of 16 months. After bottling, the wine ages for 6 months before being released to the market. TASTING NOTES A wine with a concentrated ruby ​​color, with aromas of ripe black fruits, blackberry and black cherry, complex notes of forest floor, olive and tobacco, toasty oak, and spices. Quite full-bodied, deep, with balanced acidity, silky tannins in a great, vigorous and peppery finish. SERVING Perfect with roast or stewed kid or lamb, pork cheeks, elaborate game dishes. HISTORY Born in the 2004 harvest, the Altas Quintas project is installed in the heart of the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, the most unique terroir in Portalegre, an already quite distinct sub-region of the Alentejo. There, above 600 meters of altitude, we find the ideal soil, temperature and humidity conditions to collect the maximum expression, purity and freshness of the grape varieties that we cherish in the vineyard and in the cellar. “Portalegre with elevation” is our motto. Our purpose? Combining Nature and Man to create differentiating wines, wines that reveal in body and soul the land that saw them born. PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction.
