Hanuman is a very popular and recognizable god because he is the monkey god of Hinduism. It was he who, at the head of an army of monkeys, helped the god Rama free Princess Sita, his wife, from the clutches of the demonic king of Lanka, Ravana.
It is in the mythology of the Râmâyana, that we meet the monkey god Hanumân. Divinised for his exploits, representing courage, fidelity to his commitments, humility and honesty. A village deity, he is loved and revered throughout India.
