The company was founded in 1795 by Baron Jean-Baptiste Otard, a French aristocrat who fled the French Revolution and settled in Cognac. Baron Otard’s Cognacs are made using a traditional distillation method that dates back to the 17th century. The company’s cellar master carefully selects only the best eaux-de-vie, which are aged in French oak barrels for many years.
