Fascinating lot of two iconic French black bakelite telephones, symbols of mid-20th century industrial telecommunications design (PTT - Poste, Télégraphe et Téléphone).
The lot includes:
Model U43 (Universel 1943): Manufactured by Ericsson-France. Featuring a sturdy, squared design. This unit displays the numbering "92.12.20" on the front and a rotary dial with emergency service labels (Police, Pompiers), typical of public offices of the era. Equipped with a rear supplementary receiver.
"Pyramid" Model (1930s/40s): A French design classic, likely produced by AOIP or Thompson. Elegant and timeless lines. It also includes the characteristic second earpiece for a third person to listen in.
Technical Details & Condition:
Material: Shiny black bakelite.
Accessories: Both complete with main handset and supplementary receiver ("écouteur").
Aesthetic Condition: Good vintage condition. The bakelite retains a nice luster. Note normal signs of age and wear on the original fabric/rubber cables (some exposed wires, as shown in photos).
Functionality: Sold as decorative or collector's items; not tested on modern lines. Rotary dials turn smoothly.
