It is essentially an abbreviation of the “Commentarii in libros sex Pedacii Dioscoridis” by Pierandrea Mattioli (1500-1577). En real this book is Scientific work and on the title we see information about the content of this book in Latin. The book is divided into two parts. - The first and the most important part, offers the description of several hundred plants with each its name, often in several languages (Latin, Greek, Spanish, Italian, German, French, etc.), its geographical location and its qualities. Antoin Du Pinet refers not only to Dioscoride and Mattioli but also to Fuchs and Pliny. Antoine Du Pinet was a French scholar who specialized in the translation and interpretation of classical authors of antiquity such as Pedanius Dioscorides (AD 40–90) and Pliny the Elder - The second part of this book offers a Directory of medicinal plants classified according to their therapeutic virtues. Only the first part is illustrated and includes 636 plant figures engraved on wood, which are reprises of the engravings proposed by Mattioli.
