Obverse: Features the finely detailed coat-of-arms of the Odescalchi family (Innocent XI), topped by the papal tiara and the decussate (crossed) keys of St. Peter. Surrounded by the crisp legend: INNOCENTIVS • XI • PONT • MAX • with the split date 16 - 84 flanking the tiara. Reverse: Features the celebrated biblical inscription within an ornate baroque volute cartouche dressed with fine drapery and scrolls: MELIVS / EST DARE / QVAM / ACCIPERE ("It is better to give than to receive").
