Elegant vintage jewellery box crafted from genuine natural onyx and dating approximately from the late 1950s to the 1960s. The rounded body has been finely turned and polished, revealing the beautiful natural banding of the stone in shades of pale green, cream, honey, orange and reddish brown. The colour variations and veining are naturally formed, making every piece unique. The removable domed lid is made from silver-coloured metal, most likely pewter or a similar alloy. It is decorated with a richly embossed ornamental border and completed by a charming flower-shaped finial. This refined combination of polished stone and decorative metalwork is typical of elegant dressing-table accessories produced during the mid-20th century. The original label inside reads “Onix of Pakistan”, confirming the origin of the stone and most likely the place of manufacture. A second vintage label on the underside refers to F.lli Capra, Gioielleria, Alessandria, showing that the object was originally sold through an Italian jewellery shop.
