Coche-Dury ranks among the very best white Burgundies. Due to their limited availability, these wines do not come cheap, yet their almost mythical reputation makes them some of the most sought-after in the world. The estate was founded in the 1920s by Léon Coche in Meursault. In 1964, his son Georges took over and expanded the holdings by acquiring new vineyard plots. In 1973, the reins were handed to Jean-François Coche, who—together with his wife, Odile Dury—further elevated the estate's profile; her surname was even incorporated into the estate's name. Since 2010, the winery has been managed by their son Raphaël, who continues the tradition. Coche-Dury wines are in extremely high demand, not only in Europe but also in Asia and the United States. Some even view them as an investment, as their value continues to rise. The estate produces its wines in Meursault and holds vineyard plots in Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie, and Volnay. Its most iconic wine is undoubtedly the Coche-Dury Meursault, while the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has achieved true cult status. In addition to its famous white wines, Coche-Dury also produces red wines—such as an Auxey-Duresses Pinot Noir—which are, relatively speaking, somewhat more affordable. In total, the estate covers approximately 12 hectares, with over 6 hectares dedicated to Meursault.
