About the estate Armand Rousseau—hailing from a family of winegrowers, coopers, and merchants—founded this estate in 1902 upon coming of age, having inherited several vineyard plots in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy. Over the years, he acquired Grand Cru plots in Clos de la Roche, Mazis-Chambertin, and Chambertin. In 1954, he purchased the Clos-Saint-Jacques Premier Cru in his son Charles's name. Today, the estate is led by Eric—Charles's son and Armand's grandson—who has been supported since 2014 by his daughter Cyrielle, following her training in Oregon, Australia, and New Zealand. Producing no white wines, this 15-hectare estate has established itself as a Burgundian icon with legendary cuvées such as Lavaux Saint-Jacques and Chambertin—of which it is the largest owner, holding four plots totaling 2.54 hectares. Here, one finds arguably the finest expressions of Pinot Noir. About the cuvée The Mazis-Chambertin from Domaine Armand Rousseau bears the vineyard's older spelling—"Mazy-Chambertin"—on its label. It is a powerfully structured, tannic, and robust wine that unfolds magnificent, long-lasting aromas of red and black fruit on the palate. A wine with exceptional aging potential.
