Monjurosuchus, a choristoderan reptile from the famous fossil-bearing deposits of Liaoning Province, China. The specimen preserves a clearly recognizable skeleton on its original stone matrix, including the skull, elongated body, curved ribs, slender limbs, and a long tail. These anatomical features are consistent with an aquatic or semi-aquatic lifestyle, suggesting that the animal was well adapted for movement in ancient lake or river environments. Monjurosuchus, often referred to in Chinese as “Manzhou crocodile”, is not a true crocodile, but belongs to the extinct reptile group Choristodera. Fossils of this type are closely associated with the Jehol Biota of northeastern China, an important fossil assemblage known for preserving a wide range of early birds, reptiles, fish, insects, and plants.
