For sale: A finely executed 19th-century oil painting on wooden panel. This piece is a high-quality antique master copy after Rembrandt van Rijn’s famous 'Tronie of a Man with a Feathered Beret' (the original masterpiece is housed in the Mauritshuis museum, Inventory numebr 149 The Hague). The painting has been carefully cleaned about ten years ago, beautifully restoring the rich chiaroscuro contrasts and the subtle details of the face and the feathered hat. Features & Provenance: * Medium: Oil on wooden panel. * Period: 19th century. * Frame: Housed in a heavy, richly decorated Baroque revival frame with beautiful stucco ornaments and a deep gold patina. * Reverse side: The back of the frame features an authentic branded inventory/provenance mark ("AB 82" probably de mark of the panelmaker) and an old gallery/auction label reading "naar Rembrandt". It also bears a later auction intake sticker from 2015. As far as known this piece has always been in the family collection. * Condition: The panel and paint layer are in clean, very good condition. The frame shows minor, age-appropriate wear which adds to its antique character, but remains structurally sound.
