1550 Poland 1/2 Grosz — Lithuania — NGC AU58 A rare and highly attractive silver coin of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, struck during the reign of Sigismund II Augustus. The coin features strong, well-preserved relief. The mounted knight with raised sword, the horse, the 1550 date, the eagle, and a substantial part of the surrounding legends remain remarkably clear for a coin struck almost 500 years ago. Numerous fine details of the original design are still clearly visible. The surfaces display a natural silver-grey colour with attractive old patina, particularly within the recessed areas. The contrast between the lighter high points and darker recesses beautifully emphasizes the details and character of the original strike. The coin has been certified by NGC and graded AU58.
