1547 Poland 1/2 Grosz — Lithuania — NGC MS63 A highly attractive silver 1/2 Grosz of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, struck in 1547 during the reign of Sigismund II Augustus. This is an exceptionally well-preserved example, certified by NGC and graded MS63 (Mint State). The coin displays strong, sharp and highly detailed relief. The mounted Lithuanian knight (Vytis), horse, raised sword, shield, date 1547, eagle and surrounding legends remain remarkably clear and well defined. Numerous fine details of the original medieval design are still visible. The surfaces retain an attractive natural silver colour with original character, giving the coin excellent overall eye appeal. Particularly impressive is the preservation of the central devices and the fine details of both the rider and the eagle. An excellent Mint State example of a nearly 500-year-old Lithuanian silver coin, combining historical importance, strong detail and a high NGC grade.
