Item Description 村上隆 Murakami Takashi (1962–) — MNNK Bro. "Mononoke Kyoto" 12-Inch Vinyl Single with Exclusive Trading Card Pack — Brand New & Sealed A genuinely rare and exciting object at the intersection of contemporary art and music culture: the 12-inch vinyl single "Mononoke Kyoto" by MNNK Bro. (Takashi Murakami & JP THE WAVY), complete with an exclusive LP purchaser-only collectible trading card pack — brand new and still factory sealed in its original shrink wrap. MNNK Bro. (pronounced "Mononoke Brothers") is a unique collaborative unit formed between world-renowned contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and Japanese rapper JP THE WAVY. The unit was born when JP THE WAVY was chosen to create the theme song for Murakami's landmark solo exhibition "Takashi Murakami: Mononoke Kyoto" — his first domestic exhibition in Japan in eight years — held at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art from February to September 2024. Murakami participated directly in the music production and recording, making this a true artistic collaboration, not merely a licensing arrangement. The jacket artwork is designed by Takashi Murakami himself, featuring illustrated characters of both Murakami and JP THE WAVY set against a sweeping pattern of cherry blossoms — a work of art in its own right at the iconic 31 cm × 31 cm vinyl format. Artist Profile 村上隆 Murakami Takashi (1962–) Takashi Murakami is one of the most significant and internationally recognised contemporary artists of his generation. Born in Tokyo in 1962, he developed the concept of "Superflat" — a post-modern art movement that blurs the boundaries between fine art and popular culture, drawing equally on traditional Japanese painting, anime, manga, and global consumer aesthetics. He is the founder of Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd., the art production and management company behind much of his output. Murakami has collaborated with Louis Vuitton, Kanye West, Billie Eilish, and Pharrell Williams, and his works are held in major museum collections worldwide including MoMA and the Guggenheim. His iconic "Flowers" motif — smiling, wide-eyed blossoms in vibrant colours — has become one of the most recognisable images in contemporary art globally. The "Mononoke Kyoto" exhibition in 2024 was a landmark homecoming: a vast, ambitious solo show at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art drawing on the deep aesthetic traditions of Kyoto, and was attended by hundreds of thousands of visitors.
