Lanco - Swiss – „Autolub / Astrolon“ (Cal. Tissot 2250) – Revolutionary Space-Age Horology – 1970s - Senza prezzo di riserva - Uomo - 1970-1979

Up for auction is a fascinating piece of horological history featuring a vintage Lanco wristwatch from the early 1970s, which is powered by the legendary and revolutionary Swiss movement Tissot 2250 Autolub, also known as the Astrolon. This model represents a technical revolution and a groundbreaking milestone from the era when the SSIH group, encompassing Tissot, Omega, and Lanco, introduced the world's first-ever mechanical self-lubricating movement made almost entirely from high-tech Teflon components. Thanks to this innovative space-age technology, the movement requires absolutely no oil lubrication, weighs an unbelievable 2.5 grams, and features a radically reduced part count of just 52 pieces instead of the usual 91, all held together without a single screw. While the market initially rejected this plastic concept in the 1970s, history has completely turned around, and today these timepieces are highly prized and celebrated by watch collectors worldwide. The watch features a classic screw-down caseback protecting the unique movement inside, which showcases iconic blue, red, and white plastic gears. It is preserved in beautiful aesthetic condition with a crisp, clean silver sunburst dial, a contrasting red seconds hand, and a scratch-free top condition crystal, all housed in a massive gold-plated cushion case measuring 39 mm x 39 mm excluding the crown, complemented by a high-quality 18 mm leather strap. The watch is running with a current daily deviation of approximately 5 minutes per 24 hours and comes in its authentic, untouched state with no recent service history, making it a perfect unmolested piece for a serious collection or as a high-potential long-term investment. To ensure optimal performance for daily wear, a professional regulation and baseline check by a watchmaker is recommended before use. Since very few of these innovative timepieces survived the decades in such good condition, it has become a highly sought-after, rare holy grail for collectors of unusual Swiss mechanical watches and technical curiosities. Case with some very low signs of use, nice glass absolutely without scratches, movement with mechanical hand winding is in running condition and, does not stop. Very nice vintage watch! ,Unused quality leather strap 18mm is include. Important notice: The watch is described faithfully and exactly as it was observed during the auction display, and no important information is concealed. However, please note that this is a very old watch with no service history, so I do not provide a guarantee for the accuracy of the time or functionality. The watch is listed in the antiques section and serves as an investment item to preserve the value of money and to appreciate the investment in the future over time; it is intended for collector's purposes. Before starting to wear it, I always recommend checking it with a watchmaker and performing regular service, which is recommended every 3 years for all mechanical watches worldwide.
