Charles I Robert (1301–1342) Rare Silver Denár (ÉH 393) – VF Condition!
Historical Background (A Strong Currency Born from Chaos):
When Charles I Robert took power, the Hungarian monetary system was in ruins. The provincial lords (oligarchs) often minted their own lower-quality coins, and trade was faltering. The king, however, realized that the key to power and stability was a reliable currency. With ruthless determination, he centralized the minting process and introduced strong, value-retaining silver coins that restored the economic prestige of the Kingdom of Hungary. This scarcer, ÉH 393 type silver denár is a tangible memento of the massive economic reconstruction with which the House of Anjou laid the foundations of the medieval Hungarian great power!
Condition: VF (Very Fine)
A notably rare silver denár from the era of the Angevin financial reforms, referenced by catalog number ÉH 393. The coin is preserved in a solid VF (Very Fine) condition, with the iconographic details of the issue remaining nicely and distinctly visible. Scarcer types from this era identified by specific catalog numbers always attract significant attention in the numismatic market, making this piece an excellent investment opportunity for collectors of historical silver.
