The Fabergé family originated in France, but was forced to leave the country due to religious persecution. In the 18th century, the family settled in Russia. Peter Carl Fabergé was born on 30 may 1846, the son of a goldsmith. After learning from several master goldsmiths in Germany, France and England, Peter Carl Fabergé, now a very experienced craftsman, returned to St. Petersburg. In 1885, Peter Carl Faberge gifted the first imperial egg to Tsar Alexander III and quickly became the most famous jeweller in the world. Investing in Faberge is as good an idea as investing in gold bullion or even the investment in art by great artists such as Warhol, Chillida, Roy Lichtenstein Basquiat or Banksy.
