Antique silver scent box with original sponge, made by J.B./ Johnannes Beeling who was in Leeuwarden in the period between 1846 and 1888.
"Hungary Water" is a type of scented water used back in the day.
There were scent boxes that spread a pleasant smell when opened. These boxes were carried by ladies and contained a sponge for a fine scent which could be dabbed on the skin.
