Two souls intertwined.
How do you see yourself in this work? Why does it appeal to you?
Artist Coen van Ham (1971) reflects on personal emotions, social context and universal values. Painting is his passion. Identity is his starting point.
He understands his model. Beyond the human body, he seeks the colour in the personal story. The emotion. He puts it powerfully, thoughtfully and colourfully on canvas.
Coen continues to work on assignments, objects and poetry. He also gives identity advice and coaching. He lives and works in Eindhoven.
Painting a nude model is an intimate and fragile process. I connect with someone's body and personality.
I see without façades. The way in. In that process, a painting transforms into an almost abstract expressionist work.
