Medicine box and envelopes (20) - Paper, Wood - Japan - 1923-1960
I offer a nice lot of a Japanese medical box and envelopes.
Such enveloppes were used for keeping medicine and are printed with advertisements from the pharmaceutical companies. Medicne where for cough, stomach ache and so on.
The larger enveloppes were used to keep track of the received medicines over a period of time.
Some are dated and span over the 40-60ies period.
The box is dated 1923 (taisho 12) and has the inscription Gorakuhin no hito on it 御薬品の人 meaning the man of the medicines. It was traditionnaly used in Japanese houses as first aid kit box. The origin is Toyama prefecture in the Centre of Japan.
I include a map dated 1904 of Kagoshima Prefecture, southern part of Japan.
Variable sizes for the enveloppes.
As reference box is 11.5x30x23cm
