Gustaf Möllenborg (1796-1851)
Silversmith active in Stockholm 1823-1850 (1932). He became an apprenticed at the age of 13 to a silversmith in Växjö afterwhich he went to Stockholm in 1819, where he became master in 1823 at the age of 26. Möllenborg's workshop expanded rapidly and in the 1840s was the largest producer of gold and silver goods in Sweden with over 40 employees. Owned Sweden's first large workshop for silversmithing.
In 1850, the year before he died, Möllenborg left the business to one of his journeymen, but the company survived until 1927 when the workshop's equipment was donated to the Nordic Museum.
He worked mainly in neo-Gothic and neo-rococo. His firm in Stockholm was one of the most famous in the days of his century.
