Clemens Briels (Son, 1946) is a Dutch visual artist. He started his studies at the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven, in 1965, to become an artist. Through all kinds of circumstances he ends up in the advertising world. He brings it to successful art director but at the age of 46 he finally decides to become an artist.
His works of art have since been included in various renowned art collections. Clemens Briels was the first Dutch artist to be elected as a "Official Olympic Artist" for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City!
His work consists mainly of paintings and sculptures. His paintings are characterized by the use of bright colours and the effect of depth by applying relief to the canvas.
Clemens Briels lives in the Dutch fortress town Heusden, where also his "Clemens Briels Art Centre" is located.
