Directly from the Century of Lights, ¨le siècle des lumières¨, we have this diptych sundial.
Approximately 1780
These diptych sundials are German and are known by the name of the city where they were produced, Nuremberg.
The wooden box is in very good condition as well as the interior, in watercolour painted paper

Paul Philipp Beringer was the brother of David Beringer (1756-1821), with whom he probably worked together. He became a teacher in 1783 and lived in Zirkelschmiedsgasse.
