Beautifully designed cast iron mortar with pestle from 1916.
This mortar has in the cantilevered upper edge the image of the German iron cross and on the other side is 1914 - 16, furthermore the auger has two particularly designed vertical ribs.
In order to help the German war industry with sufficient brass and bronze in mid-world war 1st world war, these types of jacks were received in exchange for a brass or bronze one.
The exchange of a mortar was a paragon of patriotism and an attempt by the citizens to end this war quickly.
Beautiful and original historical object with a beautiful age patina.
