Christofle is a French silversmithing and tableware company founded in Paris by Charles Christofle in 1830.
The company is famous for having introduced electrolytic gold and silver plating in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the luxury group owned by the Chalhoub family.
Christofle uses traditional techniques to make all of its products by hand. The precious skills of spinning, planishing, chasing and engraving, continued by its master goldsmiths and the "Meilleurs Ouvriers de France" immortalise the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. The irreplaceable human know-how is perpetuated by highly skilled craftsmen.
