The original 1742 first edition "Essais anatomiques, contenant l'histoire exacte de toutes les parties qui composent le corps de l'homme, avec la manière de les disséquer". Written by Joseph Lieutaud (1703-1780), a prominent physician of his time and first doctor to Kings Louis XV and XVI. Lieutaud is considered the grandfather of anatomical study. 724 pages and five (of six) folded engravings, printed by Pierre-Michel Huart (1687-1764), printer and bookseller to the crown prince (Louis, Dauphin de France) Condition: Overall in a good condition. Spine a little worn, a few old wormholes, see pictures for a more complete overview. The engravings at the end of the book have moisture stains. A few annotations in light pencil by Doctor F.H. van Bavegem who acquired the book in 1812. Engraving #6 is missing. This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
