Biography
Etcher, born Florence; patronised by the Medici, and spent much time in Rome from 1633-9. To Paris in train of the Florentine ambassador to France in 1639, where remained working for French publishers until the anti-Italian disturbances of the Fronde in 1650 took him back to Florence. Etcher of vast range of subjects, including playing-cards.
