Beautiful and completely restored ishô'dansu 衣装箪笥 (cabinet of drawers) in two sections. Fully restored, cleaned and waxed.
The drawer faces are made of indigenous kiri (paulownia) wood varnished in a sought after warm brown hue, a colour that we like to call ‘golden oak’.
The exterior and even the back are made of sugi (cedar) wood finished with a quality Shunkei-style dark red lacquer.
The upper section configured with two wide drawers, and the lower part with four drawers of different size.
Fitted with large decorative iron lock plates featuring a crest 紋 (mon) depicting a butterfly 蝶 (chû). Flanked by sturdy iron ‘warabite’-shaped bail handles with matching escutcheons with a stylized pine tree motif 松 (matsu). The protective hardware in the corners are showcasing folding fans 扇子 (sensu) with a circle in the middle, resembling the national symbol of the rising sun.
The cabinet is very spacious and ideal for easy storage.
Each side is equipped with a ‘pole-carrying’-handle for easy transport and for ‘locking’ the upper part into place.

The ishô’dansu is in a very good restored condition. Please see the photos for a condition reference. No key included.
