A spectacular pair of temple brass vases filled with gilded aluminum lotus flowers. Such a set is called a ‘Jyôka’ 常花, and are placed on or next to an altar in a Buddhist temple.
In Buddhism, lotus is an important symbol of enlightenment because it blooms beautiful flowers while growing in the mud. Tsunehana means "a flower that continues to bloom forever" and "a flower that does not wither".
