At the age of 27, he moved to Kyoto with Baiitsu and opened his own studio as a painter, while also studying Confucian and Japanese studies. He was a theoretician and author of many works. He excelled in Sansui landscapes, flowers, and birds, and his landscapes in particular are elegant and tranquil.
