高橋泥舟 Takahashi Deishu (1835-1903)
A shogunate minister in the late Edo period. A native of Edo. He was called a master of spearsmanship and was even described as having reached the level of a divine art. He was a man of integrity and firmness and negotiated with Saigo Takamori at the order of Shogun Yoshinobu. Yamaoka Tesshu is his brother-in-law. Together with Yamaoka Tesshu and Katsu Kaishu, he was called the "Three Shu" of the Bakumatsu Period.
