Choice Very Fine.
Exceptional obverse portrait of fine style and sharp detail; reverse lightly struck but well-centred with full legends. Attractive tone and smooth silver surfaces, typical of the Antioch mint.
Commentary:
Struck at Antioch — the eastern mint famed for its elegant portraiture — this issue embodies the optimism of Gordian’s youthful reign. Fortuna Redux, “the bringer of safe returns,” reflects imperial hopes for stability amid the turbulence of the Soldier-Emperor period. The artistry of this die, especially in the radiate crown and finely modelled drapery, makes it one of the more appealing Antioch antoniniani of the era.
Choice very fine, excellent portrait, great sample!
