Kakejiku 掛軸 (rotolo appeso) - Fiume di Montagna Blu-Verde con iscrizione poetica - Seta - 邨松雲外 Muramatsu Ungai (1870–1938) / 西尾廣耕 Nishio Hirokō (1886) - Giappone - 1900-2000

Item Description: Left : This traditional Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku) presents a tranquil landscape painting titled "Blue-Green Mountain Stream with Poetic Inscription" (青緑渓山覚句図) by the accomplished Nihonga painter Muramatsu Ungai (邨松雲外). Hand-painted on silk and mounted in a refined golden brocade, the composition features towering mountains in misty gradients, with rich green pines and flowing water forming a vivid sansui-ga (landscape painting). A lone scholar or hermit is depicted standing with a staff near the base of the cliffs, gazing upward, suggesting a scene of poetic contemplation amid nature's grandeur. The upper right portion of the painting includes a poetic inscription in elegant calligraphy, also by the artist, accompanied by his red seals. This work is housed in its original tomobako (signed storage box), bearing inscriptions and the artist’s seal. Executed in traditional seiryoku (blue-green) pigment style, this piece exemplifies refined brushwork and composition techniques of Meiji to early Showa period Nihonga. right: This elegant Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku) showcases a misty and atmospheric landscape titled "Sailboats on a Foggy River" (霧江白帆之図), hand-painted on silk by the Nihonga artist Nishio Hirokō (西尾廣耕). Executed in monochrome ink wash (sumi-e), the composition presents a serene river valley scene shrouded in morning mist, with distant mountains rising in the background and small boats with white sails drifting calmly across the water. Tall pines and temple structures dot the midground, while a waterfall cascades down a rocky cliff on the left. This composition is an exemplary sansui-ga (landscape painting), evoking the poetic tranquility of nature and the fleeting beauty of mist-covered mornings. The work is signed and sealed by the artist in the lower right and comes in its original tomobako (signed wooden box). A fine example of early 20th-century Japanese ink landscape, this piece would make a meaningful addition to any collection of Nihonga or traditional East Asian art.
