Exceptional and complete copy of the special Picasso issue of Papeles de Son Armadans, published in April 1960 (Año V, Tomo XVII, Núm. XLIX), entirely dedicated to the artist Pablo Picasso.
The issue was composed by hand and printed at the Mossèn Alcover workshops in Palma de Mallorca, under the direction of Nobel Prize–winning writer Camilo José Cela, close friend and collaborator of Picasso.
This remarkable volume includes previously unpublished drawings by Picasso, reproduced directly from originals made for this edition. The cover lithograph, executed in vivid colors, was also designed by Picasso himself.
Inside appear several studies and texts paying tribute to the artist, including contributions by D. García-Sabell (“Picasso, empapelado”), Cela’s introduction “El viejo picador”, and critical essays exploring Picasso’s life and artistic evolution.
The colophon indicates that printing was completed on 27 April 1960, the day of Our Lady of Montserrat, and that a special tirage of 100 copies on papel de hilo verjurado Vilaseca was made:
– Fifty numbered 1–50, bearing the subscriber’s printed name.
– Fifty numbered LI–C, destined for sale.
