Vol. XXXIV of the Third Series, or vol. CIV of the whole work; 66 engraved and finely, originally excellently hand-coloured plates with vibrant colours, 6 larger, folded, and with accompanying text. This vol. contains the plants (plates and descriptions) numbered 6337 to 6402. Minimal damp staining to lower margins; the first folded plate has a very small tear at the top, repaired at the back. No binding; title page, dedication leaf and index on Latin names are all accounted for. The book itself is complete. * Curtis's Botanical Magazine is an illustrated publication which began in 1787. The longest running botanical magazine, it is widely referred to by the name Curtis's Botanical Magazine. Each of the issues contains a description, in formal yet accessible language, and is renowned for featuring the work of two centuries of botanical illustrators. Many plants received their first publication on the pages, and the description given was enhanced by the keenly detailed illustrations. Joseph Dalton Hooker (1817 – 1911) was a British botanist and explorer in the 19th century. He was a founder of geographical botany and Charles Darwin's closest friend. For twenty years he served as director of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew.
