Our only red wine in the classic Bordeaux style, i.e., matured in 225-liter oak barrels. Approximately 20-year-old Merlot vines from the Szapary, Reihburg, and Hummergraben vineyards. Dark, tea-leaf spice, wild cherry, leather, very intense, reminiscent of Pomerol. On the palate, juicy, dense, rich in extract, and complex. Nervy and refined at the same time, with the finest use of oak, impressive length. And all this paired with the Eisenberg minerality and Uwe Schiefer's fine signature, this is what Austrian Merlot can taste like.
