This is an exceptional silver flower vase titled "Gin no Hana" (Silver Flower) by Furukawa Toshio, a renowned ceramic artist from Kyoto. Born in 1949, Furukawa established Risogama kiln and became famous for developing the "Yuurihakkinzai" technique, which applies platinum foil beneath the glaze. This technique was later perfected by his son Takuro. The artist's work has been recognized at the 26th Traditional Crafts Kinki Exhibition, where he received the prestigious Nihon Dento Kogei Kinki Prize.
This particular piece demonstrates Furukawa's mastery in creating elegant floral motifs. The vase comes with its original tomobako (signed wooden box), which authenticates the piece and adds to its collectible value. His work features characteristic ice-crackle celadon glazes with extensive crazing patterns and rich, subdued color tones.
