Piatto - Porcellana - periodo Guangxu/Repubblica

Chinese Yellow-Glazed Dish with Incised Lotus Decoration Bearing a six-character Kangxi mark, later period (likely Guangxu or Republic) A rare yellow-glazed porcelain dish with incised lotus scrolls, the interior and exterior finely decorated with scrolling lotus blossoms and foliage beneath a rich, even yellow glaze pooling slightly darker around the footrim. The shallow rounded sides rise from a short footring. The base bears a six-character Kangxi mark in underglaze blue within a double circle. Diameter: 22.5 cm Condition: Minor rim chips. Provenance: From a Finnish collection. Previously sold at Uppsala Auktionskammare, Important Sale, 13 June 2023, lot 1254. Comparative Examples: Compare with yellow-glazed dishes of similar type and size, inscribed with Kangxi marks and attributed to the period, such as those sold at Christie’s Hong Kong (Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art, 30 November 2016, lot 3213), and Sotheby’s New York (Important Chinese Art, 19 March 2019, lot 530). A closely related dish is preserved in the Palace Museum, Beijing (inv. no. 故瓷000909N000000000). Literature: • Medley, Margaret. Illustrated Catalogue of Ming and Ch’ing Monochrome in the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art. London, 1973, p. 44, no. B500, for related Kangxi yellow dishes. • Scott, Rosemary. For the Imperial Court: Qing Porcelain from the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art. London, 1997, illustrating Kangxi-period yellow wares. • The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Monochrome Porcelain. Hong Kong, 1999, for further Kangxi yellow dishes. • See also the British Museum, Percival David Collection, museum number PDF,B.500 (a yellow dish with Kangxi mark). Note on Dating: While the dish bears a six-character Kangxi reign mark, stylistically and technically it is more consistent with later Qing revival pieces, most likely of the Guangxu reign (1875–1908) or early Republic period, when Kangxi monochromes were widely admired and reproduced with great skill.
