Hashimoto Jogaku 橋本城岳 (b1907) - Ciotola - Ceramica - Wisteria Flowers Tazza da tè

橋本城岳 Hashimoto Jogaku (b1907) Born at the foot of Mount Somayama in Nanjo, Fukui Prefecture. At the age of 33, he gained experience in the ceramics industry in former Manchuria. Upon returning to Japan, he formally apprenticed under Kyoto traditional craftsman Inoue Shunpō from 1945. He established the Narutaki Kiln and became independent in 1955, subsequently relocating to Gojōzaka in 1957 to pursue his pottery. His style specialises in Kyoto ware, particularly excelling in imitations of Nisei's colour-painted works, developing elegant tea ceramics. This elegant Kyoto ware (Kyo-yaki) tea bowl features a vivid wisteria motif painted in rich colors over a shimmering gold background. Created by Hashimoto Jogaku (1907–2003), founder of the Narutaki Kiln, the bowl exemplifies the refined aesthetics of Ninsei-style (Ninsei utsushi) ceramics. Wisteria symbolizes grace, longevity, and spiritual humility in Japanese culture, making it a popular theme in tea ceremony utensils. The cascading blossoms evoke the beauty of spring and the quiet dignity of nature. Hashimoto Jogaku trained under Inoue Shunpō, a master of Kyoto ceramics, and established his kiln in the 1950s. His works are known for their delicate brushwork, vibrant color palette, and classical elegance, often used in formal tea gatherings. This piece comes with its original tomobako (signed wooden box), ensuring authenticity and preservation. Ideal for collectors of Japanese tea ware and seasonal display. 橋本城岳 Hashimoto Jogaku (b1907) 鳴滝窯 Narutaki kiln, Kyo ware 'Wisteria Flowers Tea Bowl' with Original box (Tomobako) Dimensions: 4.8" x 3.1" / 12.2cm x 8cm Material: Pottery Weight: 790g including Box Condition Antique items have originally crease, stain, damage, and more.
