In 13th century Khmer society, daily life was impregnated with Buddhist and Hindu religious practesis.
Daily ceremonies and rituals like offerings, bathing, funerals, initations ect, were an important activity in a strict regulated religious society. Most rituals had their own specific object to perform and were often the property of monasteries and temples. The shape of these objects are unique and remains unchanged to this day.
