AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Anatolian marble idol, Kusura type, from the Bronze Age II (circa 2700–2300 BC).
Kusura idols, defined by Colin Renfrew and named after the site of the same name in southwestern Anatolia, have always been found in burials, indicating that they were pieces of ritual and religious significance.

The region of Anatolia, also known as Asia Minor, is a peninsula currently occupied by the Asian part of Turkey. It is bordered to the north by the Black Sea, to the east by the Taurus and Anti-Taurus mountain ranges, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the west by the Aegean Sea and the Sea of Marmara. The Bosphorus Strait and the Dardanelles Strait separate it from Europe.

In Ancient Greece, the western part of the peninsula was known as Asia, but the name was later extended to the entire continent, hence the peninsula's name Asia Minor.

Because Anatolia is a mountainous region, it has historically been a successive military stronghold for various peoples. Among others, Troy, the Hittite Empire, the kingdoms of Phrygia and Lydia, the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia, the Byzantine Empire, the Seljuk Empire, and the Ottoman Empire; Greek, Armenian, Turkish, Assyrian, Arab, and Jewish peoples, among others, have also occupied the region.

Acquired from a Spanish private collection, M.M in the 70's.
-The piece includes an authenticity certificate and Spanish export license.

IMPORTANT: Due to the new laws on the export of archaeological pieces, we have decided to NO LONGER sell outside the European territory for the following countries: SWITZERLAND & UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

For other destinations out of European territory: all our items will be shipped after obtaining a definitive LICENSE EXPORTATION by the Ministry of Culture of Spain. We inform our clients that it may take between 4-8 weeks. According to Spanish legislation, items sent outside the European Union are subjected to export taxes. The taxes will be added to the invoice, at the buyer's expense. These export fees are fixed on the final auction price, and the tax rate is not applied directly to the total value of the item to be exported, but rather the different percentages by sections are applied to it:
Up to 6,000 euros: 5%. / From 6.001 to 60.000 euros: 10 %.

Please note that for far destination (Asia, middle east etc.. ), there will be an additional cost for the shipping.
