In age related condition - not cleaned (see photos)

Very rare and early vinaigrette / fragrance box, perfume tin from 1812
Silver with floral engraving.

The original sponge is still included!

Silversmith punches (Hallmark):

- Punched with a lion to the left facing the viewer;
- Maker’s mark „J.L“ (John Linegar)
- Tax mark (Georg III 1786-1820)
- City mark (Anker = Birmingham)
- Date of production „O“ (1812)

Dimensions: 2,2 x 1,8 cm

The fragrance boxes were used primarily in Victorian times by ladies
to ward off an oncoming fainting spell.
