Romanian Communist Army officer's dagger - Ceausescu 1950 (very small and extremely rare, serial no. 4263)
In modern Romania's communist period the army was, along with the police (Milizzia) and the secret services (Securitate), a tool to intimidate the population who could not stand anymore hunger and the most fierce dictatorship. Every time that Ceausescu had information about people wanting to start a rebellion, he would release his men from the military barracks who would patrol the town and scare the population.
In the revolution of December 1989, the army, instead of doing their duty, which should have been to defend its population from the enemies, opened fire after Ceausescu’s order and caused more than a thousand deaths and thousands of injuries among innocents.
Double-edged dull steel blade; mother of pearl handle, brass hardware; brass scabbard; excellent condition, with some normal signs of wear due to the passage of time.
The accessories are brand new and were never worn.

Dagger length 30.5 cm
Blade length 21 cm
Scabbard length 22.2 cm
Total length 32 cm

The scabbard lock button is perfectly functional.
Very small and very rare serial No. 4263, for true collectors.
