Much of the material in this 1948 Sudek volume was reprinted in Saint Vitus's Cathedral, the sixth volume in Torst's Josef Sudek: Works series. St. Vitus’s Cathedral, the spiritual heart of Czech nationalism and the burial place of its kings, sits atop foundations that date back to 925. Sudek shot it at many points in his long career. For him, it is a theater of light, an arena of formal and compositional exploration that is virtually infinite.
