This carpet was knotted in the city of Yazd in southen Persia. The patterns are often inspired by Keshan rugs. The carpet has a very detailed pattern, often with a medallion in the middle and with high pile. A violet-red colour is often found in the colour scheme. The carpet is beautiful and worth the price.
These carpets are based on cotton warp with a sustainable thick wool. Most Yazd carpets have a central medallion surrounded by symmetrical borders. Colours most used for export carpets are generally pastel, but those designed for Iranian households are often more clear and more beautiful. These carpets are well-suited for heavy use. Yazd carpets are typically medium in size, but older versions can also be found in large formats.
