Extraordinary collector's carpet !!
The town Sultanabad (now Arak) was founded in 1808 and became the most important centre of carpet production in Iran. Sultanabad carpets are of the highest quality by the Mahal manufacturies in the region Arak.
Many bidder will not yet have heard of these rare Persian carpets. Please inform yourself in the internet about Sultanabad carpets to understand their special characteristics.
This is not something you should let a trader do for you. The carpet needs to be restored by a highly qualified carpet workshop. Anyone who is willing to invest in this repair will already have earned money !

In need of repair !
The carpet has a fantastic Herati pattern in the centre, the edge is adorned with ornaments typical for the Mahal and the colours are faint and discrete, a hallmark of such Sultanabad carpets that gives them a unique antique charm.
Unfortunately it bears major signs of wear!
Thin spots, signs of wear on the edge and fringe, holes, small tears ( see XL photos )
