Wilhelmus Josephus (Woody) van Amen (1936) is a Dutch sculptor, painter and collage artist.
Van Amen studied at the Rotterdam art academy. In 1961 Van Amen went to the United States for a period of two years. He was introduced to American artists like Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg. These artists used everyday consumer objects in their work. Van Amen was inspired by this and made a number of paintings in which he incorporated some well-known brand names from the Netherlands.
Back in the Netherlands, he developed his own style and, at one point, started using other techniques. From the 1970s he travelled to Southeast Asia, and oriental influences in his work became visible.
