Original reproduction of the Calvert pieces. Made of rosewood and boxwood. The King is 11 cm high with a lead base.
This chess design originates from John Calvert and although it is not a traditional Staunton, this chess set has very similar features to Staunton sets, displayed by its contemporary John Jaques.
Made in the mid-20th century in England, this chess with Calvert pattern derives from the German designs of the 15th century The slim baluster and unusual shape of the Kings with their pierced floral crowns make this an attractive and decorative game.
This chess has been hand carved by master craftsmen using the highest standards of quality. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is incomparable with any other chess set.
It includes the original box of the set with medal of lacquered metal with drawing of the pawn and knight. The board is not included.
