Octagonal mahogany tea caddy - with inner lid - ca. 1760
In good restored condition

This beautiful tea chest is in beautiful condition. It is made of oak that which has been glued with mahogany. The original hardware has a beautiful patina, the working 18th century lock has a key that is also from that time. The inside of the lid is glued with a red velour which is a beautiful combination with the colour of the mahogany.
The inside is to a large extent still glued with lead foil, and especially remarkable is that the original inner lid of lead with a brass knob is still present. The box has a wax finish, giving it a beautiful satin gloss.
